19 weeks

2/3/09- 19 weeks
I am working today and am feeling lots of kicks. They are getting stronger each day! It is so reassuring to feel you move and kick. No one has been able to feel it on the outside yet. Today while I was sitting at my desk I felt a strong one and was able to feel it on the outside for the first time. My co-worker Tricia ran in but you had stopped. You dad is dying to feel you. He tries every night. You are a miracle!

2/5/09- Dad didn’t have to wait long to feel you. Last night we were sitting in the recliner and he felt the first little kicks. He was really excited and said, “ there really is something in there!!” You have been kicking most of the day and seem to rest at night, so far. I hear that will change soon. After I eat or drink, you are especially active. I have been doing yoga more the last few months to prepare for labor. Today, Aunt Misty and I went at lunch. It was her first time. I hope she enjoyed it so I can have another partner.

This weekend your dad and I went to a meditation class to work on my relaxation. During the class I was laying on my back and felt 3 strong kicks!! It was amazing. I have felt some flutters before but that was the first distinct kick. I was so excited but had to wait the entire our in silence before I could share the news. Hopefully, you will start kicking more soon!!

1/27/09- 18 weeks
This weekend was the Barlow Family Christmas Murder Mystery at Wanda and Larry’s. It was a great weekend! I am beginning to feel kicks daily now. Very exciting! They feel like tiny thumps. My appetite is going strong now and my weight gain of 3 lbs in 3 days proves that. I have now gained 8 lbs and am within the normal range. Dad continues to play guitar and talk to you daily.

15 weeks

1/7/09 15 weeks- Happy New Year!! I have been on vacation for a few weeks and am just returning to work. It has been a wonderful, much needed break. Christmas was amazing this year. We celebrated with the Barlows this year. Scottie and Rosalyn bought a new house near Gilliam so we spent our last holiday in the farm on EE. It is bittersweet because that is where I first realized I wanted to marry your dad. In the basement during hunting season when I saw him wearing his coveralls and boots with a smile. Anyway, we also went to Mama Nina’s for Christmas day and had a great time. The weekend before we went to celebrate with the Raileys at Uncle Phils house. Cousin Graysen is 8 months old and the king of the house. Granny Becky came in from Washington after Christmas and we spent a week shopping, eating and hiking. She also went to Dr. Green’s office with me and heard your heartbeat. She got teary eyed and was thrilled to know you were doing well. New Year’s Eve was fairly calm for us for the first time this year. We went to Native Stone Winery with Tracy King and Matt Plank and were home by 9:30 and barely made it to midnight. The times are a’ changing. J Uncle Brandon and future Aunt Melanie also got engaged on New Year’s Eve after an 8 year courtship. They are planning a wedding after you are born. This will be another year of weddings. Travis Norris and Elisha Oberle also got engaged near Christmas. Both your Dad and I were asked to be in the wedding on 9/26/09. Hope you are ready for a babysitter by then. Christmas Day was the beginning of a new chapter of this pregnancy. My nausea went away and energy has returned. I feel great and can’t wait to feel you move! I may have felt you move during the 14th week but am not for sure. I was lying in bed and felt a tiny tap in my abdomen. I have been dying to feel it again! My best friend Kate (Bilger) Topping, came down last weekend to begin work on your room. She is a great artist and helped pick out colors and drew a tree on the wall behind where your crib will go. We will have our sonogram to find out if you are a boy or girl on February 11th, right before we head to Vegas for a get-a-way.

11 weeks

12/10/08 I have finally gained weight!!! One whole pound in 11 weeks! I have been eating every 1-2 hours to keep the nausea away. Still craving citrus and now peanut M&Ms. Last night I talked to your Great Granny Carter and she is very excited for your arrival. She has already planned to come up for a few weeks and help me after you are born. She has been looking at baby supplies and can’t wait to start sewing you sun dresses if you are a girl. Your dad is now rubbing my belly and reminding me that I am not getting chubby, just growing a baby. He is a wonderful man and I can’t wait for you to meet him :)

12/17/08 12 weeks down, 193 days to go! This week is a crazy one getting ready for Christmas. We have been running around to Christmas parties and programs. Jenn Dampf came to work yesterday to hear her baby’s heartbeat on the Doppler for the first time. It was so exciting to be with her to hear it with her! Of course, I had to check on you again while we were there and yours was pumping strong at 164bpm. It is so reassuring to hear that sound. Jada is getting really excited about your arrival and is asking lots of questions. We had her this week and she came right up to me and said, “ is that baby still in there? When is he coming out? What is he eating? How did a bottle get in there?” She also decided that if you are a boy you should be named Lance Jr. and Misty or Jada if you are a girl. She is going to be a wonderful big cousin. Off to eat more oranges!

I am working as an RD for the Cole County Health Dept in Jefferson City. I work mainly with low-income moms and children under the age of 5. We have a prenatal clinic next door and today I asked one of the nurses if she would let me listen to your heartbeat for the first time. My friend Amanda Powell used the Doppler to find your tiny little heartbeat. It was the sweetest sound I have ever heard. You were pumping at 174 bmp.
We are going to see Dr. Green again on Wednesday so your dad will be able to hear too. Hearing that was very reassuring and I am beginning to realize that this is real.

The last four weeks have been rough on your mom. Beginning 11/7 I have had most of the day nausea and some vomiting. It has been a change for me since I am such a fan of food. Your dad has been amazing. Doing most of the cooking and cleaning and taking care of me. I am so fortunate to have such a great husband and you are going to have the best dad in the world. So far I have been craving Taco Bell tacos and recently citrus fruit.
The last 3 days have been much better and I am hoping that the sickness is going away soon.

12/3 Dad and I went for our second OB appt today. Dr. Green listened to your heartbeat and said everything seems to be going well. It is so nice to hear your heart pumping so fast. Your dad was excited to hear it to. We have decided to try to slow down our way too busy schedules and stay home the next 2 weekend. That is very unusual for us. I think we maybe stayed home 2-3 weekends the last year. We are trying to get the house together and will start working on your room next month. We will be able to find out if you are a boy or girl in early February and get to decorating!

12/8/08 It is the beginning of another week already. You are now 11 weeks old and the size of a lime. Things are going much better this week. We had a great relaxing weekend and I am feeling like a new woman. Not so tired and the nausea is nearly gone. It has been a textbook pregnancy thus far. We have added another name to the list of contenders. Sure is hard to name a whole person. Grandma Becky, Granny Carter, Aunt Sara, Grandma Michelle and most of our friends still think you are going to be a girl but we aren’t so sure. I have been having very real dreams every night and you are always a boy in my dreams. We would love either a boy or a girl but I have a feeling you are going to be a boy. We will know in 6 weeks!
